The UConn basketball team had been ranked in every one of the Associated Press’ top 25 polls since Nov. 29, 2010. That run of 28 straight polls that included the Huskies ended Monday.
UConn, ranked 24th by the AP last week, was out of the new poll that was released Monday afternoon. The Huskies lost to Notre Dame 50-48 Sunday in Hartford, their third straight loss.
UConn was 12th among the “also receiving votes” group, getting two points in the poll (likely two 25th-place votes).
This most recent run of inclusion in the nation’s 25 was the fifth-longest stretch in school history.
The Huskies, who were 19th in the coaches poll last week, fell out of those rankings, too. Though they were third among the “also receiving votes” group, essentially ranked 28th.
UConn faces Georgetown Wednesday in D.C., obviously in need of a win.
