Yum! It’s a basketball game

We’re patiently waiting the start of UConn and Louisville here at the KFC Yum! Center.

UConn is feeling a little better about itself these days, and we’ll see if it lasts.

A few notes before the Huskies and Cards get going:

— Louisville C Gorgui Dieng (sprained ankle) will try and play tonight.

He seemed to be favoring his left (good) ankle and moved pretty gingerly during warmups but it seems he’s a gamer.

— The Huskies will stick with their three-guard lineup to start tonight’s game. It’s Ryan Boatright, Shabazz Napier, Jeremy Lamb, Tyler Olander and Andre Drummond at the tap.

— Lamb was among 20 players named to the midseason watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association player of the year award.

Three players from North Carolina _ Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Tyler Zeller _ all made the cut, as did Kentucky freshmen Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Lamb and West Virginia’s Kevin Jones are the only players from the Big East on the list.

— The Huskies are no longer even receiving votes in the AP poll. The new poll came out Monday afternoon and UConn lost the 2 points it received last week.

UConn is still getting votes in the coaches’ poll, reeling in six this week.
