Another dog (and pony?) show

We’re at the old mall in Hartford this morning, with a basketball game and a dog show both scheduled for the building today.

A few pre-game notes before UConn and Marquette hit the floor.

— Marquette PF/C Davante Gardner is in street clothes. It looks like his left knee will keep him out again. The Golden Eagles have been playing without big men for a few weeks, so it isn’t likely to impact them too much.

— The Huskies will keep the same starting lineup today, with Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright, Jeremy Lamb, Alex Oriakhi and Andre Drummond. It’s three straight games with the same starters, a long run this season.

— Recruit Chris Obekpa, a 6-foot-8 center/forward from Centereach, N.Y., is expected to be here on an unofficial visit.

Obekpa is the 11th-best center and the 50th-ranked player in the Class of 2012 according to ESPN.com. Rivals.com rates him as the No. 15 center and the No. 105 player overall.

He is considering UConn, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Cincinnati, Providence, St. John’s and DePaul.

— In case you missed it, here’s today’s advance on the game from the Journal Inquirer.
