Committee takes no action on APR, UConn still on the outs

The UConn basketball team’s hopes of being eligible for the 2013 NCAA Tournament did not change Monday, though the fact that the NCAA’s Committee on Academic Performance did not change the years of APR date it will use means the Huskies are still on the outside looking in.

The committee, which is chaired by University of Hartford President Walter Harrison, discussed changing the reporting dates it will use to determine punishments in the 2012-13 season during its meeting Monday but took no official action. An NCAA spokesman said the committee decided to “continue the dialogue at future meetings.”

The committee’s next meeting is in April.

There’s still the matter of UConn’s appeal to its request for a waiver, which was originally denied Feb. 10. The hopes of that ruling being reversed appear dim, however.
