UConn coach Jim Calhoun was not at practice Thursday as some had expected.
Calhoun, who had surgery Monday for his spinal stenosis, was feeling better according to a university official.
UConn’s season finale is Saturday against Pitt at Gampel Pavilion.
For what it’s worth, associate head coach George Blaney is scheduled to speak with the media Friday afternoon after practice. Those plans can be quickly changed, of course, and Calhoun still may rejoin the squad before then.
Calhoun has missed the Huskies’ last eight games.
The coach has made dramatic returns before, from his prostate surgery in 2003 and his other medical leave in 2010. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a surprise in Storrs Friday.
