A little pregame AIC

WE’RE A FEW minutes away from Kevin Ollie’s debut as UConn basketball coach. The Huskies take on AIC (American International College…or Almost In College, if you prefer) in their first exhibition here at Gampel Pavilion.

— AS EXPECTED, center Enosch Wolf will sit this one out. He suffered a concussion in practice nearly two weeks ago and is slowly working his way back.

Wolf did warm up a bit Thursday and seemed fine. He’ll likely play Sunday in the UMass-Lowell exhibition.

— THE SPRAINED ANKLE Ryan Boatright suffered in practice doesn’t seem like it’s much of an issue.

The sophomore guard was warming up fine and seems ready to go tonight.

— UCONN’S STARTERS tonight will be Boatright, Shabazz Napier, Niels Giffey, DeAndre Daniels and Tyler Olander.

Not sure this changes when Wolf comes back. The Huskies have to play their “quick” lineup regularly to prosper, assuming they can rebound.

— ON THE RECRUITING front, PF Jordan Bell has cancelled his scheduled official visit to UConn this weekend and is apparently no longer considering the Huskies.

A tweet from his AAU team, the Compton Magic, indicated Bell is now down to Oregon and Auburn and that he’ll visit the latter next weekend.

Bell is a 6-foot-7 defensive specialist from Polytechnic High in Long Beach, Calif. Rivals ranked him as the 14th-best power forward in the Class of 2013.
