Looking out for No. 1

Greetings from the XL Center where UConn is about to tangle with No. 1 Louisville.

Amida Brimah, the 6-foot-11 center from Ghana via Miami, is in the house a few hours after offering UConn head coach Kevin Ollie a verbal commitment.

Brimah was unavailable for comment but was sitting in the first row behind the UConn bench.

— THERE’S A SMALL chance that Louisville is a bit fatigued.

The Cardinals couldn’t fly out into Bradley on Sunday afternoon as planned, and had to travel to the state today.

It might not make a big difference, especially with a team pretty used to travel, but we’ll see.

— UCONN IS 2-6 in its history against teams ranked No. 1, though it is on a two-game winning streak.

Here are the games:

Jan. 23, 1985 _ Georgetown 79, UConn 66

Feb. 2, 1985 _ St. John’s 97, UConn 64

March 6, 1985 _ Georgetown 93, UConn 62 (Big East tournament)
